CERAMICS HANDICRAFTS

ABEL ÁVALOS GUERRERO. Cathedral.

Abel is from Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajato, Mexico. Specialised in ceramics, he creates “great miniature works.” In his 30 x 30-cm work –which he completed after 6 months of 12-hour sessions–, he used the Beads and Fretwork decoration techniques.

TEXTILE HANDICRAFTS

MÁXIMO LAURA. Ritual to Fertility.

He is a renown Peruvian textile artist. His works evoke the local mythology and folklore, mixed with a contemporary contrast that imbues them with a unique personality. The submitted work was made using a two-pedal horizontal loom, with a technique typical of his region: “Ayacucho weaving,» combined with modern techniques. It took him 8 months of non-stop work to complete this piece.

WOODEN HANDICRAFTS

ALFONSO MOYA. Llagantu.

Native of Cunco, Chile, from an early age he felt a calling that inspired him to transform things into «something more,» hearing the voice of nature, ancient magic and ancient rites.
The submitted work, Llagantu (Time), is a sculpture made with pieces of reclaimed wood from native trees, sealed with beeswax and coconut oil –to avoid toxic products– in line with his commitment to environmental preservation.

METAL HANDICRAFTS

SERGIO BRUNO. Knife and Fork Set.

Native of the City of Córdoba, Argentina. With a background in architecture, he designs and manufactures handcrafted knives that become unique pieces. It took him 20 hours to complete his work, let alone the time devoted to design. The stainless steel blade was forged, shaped and polished by hand, and the handle wood was sourced from woodpiles or river banks. The set also has its own customised leather sheath.
